CPR Guidelines and its role in Human Health
CPR: It is called as “Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation”; is the combined procedure with two steps; providing mouth to mouth breathing and compressions on the chest region. The conditions are mainly for those who are extremely suffering with cardiac arrests, electric shock, excessive bleeding from the vital organs, lung puncture or any other emergency lung disease, poisoning and suffocation.
According to American Heart Association, CPR guidelines are to be adopted; they can be followed by anyone in emergency condition; they are,
a. When the patient, whatever the age he/she may be with should be easily recognized when the sudden cardiac arrest, choking, electric shock, lung blockage is occurred. Cardiac arrest suffering patients may have respiratory or suffocation problems; they may also suffer with seizure in extreme conditions.
b. CPR effectiveness must be maintained by the performer (lay rescuer) or the CPR certified person; correct compressions and breathing rescues must be carried out. If not done it may decrease the effectiveness of the procedure.
c. Checking the pulse will be difficult in those choked, cardiac arrested or shock suffering patients. The medical care providers should not waste time in checking the pulse or blood pressure not more than 10 seconds should be wasted.
d. Cardiac arrest suffering patients should not be given compressions by the CPR professional. This may lead to injury to the heart diseases. The compressions are to be made with hands; it can be done even by the lay rescuers when guided or either by the dispatchers over the telephone.
e. Lay rescuer; should not take initiation in performing the CPR activity, he/she should immediately report to the emergency department. Checking the pulse, blood pressure should not be performed by the lay rescuer in case of cardiac emergency, choking or electric shock.
