Baby CPR

Details about Baby CPR

CPR means (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) – This is an emergency procedure which is to be performed in an attempt to return life to an individual who is experiencing a cardiac arrest which is indicated in those people who are insensitive without any breath or only getting gasps, this CPR can be administered or performed both inside or outside of any medical center. The CPR basically involves the compressing of the chest at a rate of a minimum 100 per minute in an attempt to create and artificial movement by manually pumping the blood through the patient’s heart, the savior may provide the affected person with some breaths which can be done either by exhaling in the mouth or with the help of any device which pushes the air into the lungs. This process is providing respiration is also known as artificial respiration. By doing this CPR would not be entirely responsible to resume the heart, but its main point is to reinstate a limited flow of blood to the vital organs such as the brain and the heart.

Baby CPR is generally divided in to 2 types – Infant CPR and Child CPR. Any person would not like to be in a position where they have to save their child’s life, but as they say anything can happen and any situation would come up suddenly. Usually small babies get choked on food, toys plastics etc.., so if any such situation comes up, you would definitely want to know what should be done. The best option is to keep aside a few hours to take on one of the CPR training programs to learn and get trained in the proper techniques. Baby CPR is the life saving process which can save the life of your baby, the Baby CPR uses the compressions of the chest and rescuing the breathing which will in turn circulate the blood that contains the much required oxygen and will supply to the most vital organs of the body which are the brain and the heart until the emergency medical professionals arrive at the spot. The circulation of the oxygenated blood should be continuous as this would help prevent brain damage which can occur within a few minutes of the arrest and would further be fatal for the child.

Administering the Baby CPR is not very complicated and here are a few simple illustrative steps, but we would strongly advise you to go through a proper training before doing all this to any child.

To perform a Baby CPR first of all gently place the baby on their back on a firm surface, then the next step would be to open the baby’s airway, after this you can give a couple of gentle breaths and see whether the chest is rising, if not then the airway is still blocked. After this the chest compressions can be given, Repeat the chest compressions and the breaths alternatively till the medical aid arrives.

This is how Baby CPR is generally given, but it can differ from person to person, so it would be ideal to go through some formal training before doing any such thing on any one as it can be fatal if not administered properly.
