CPR Face Shield
What is a CPR Face Shield?
CPR means (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) – This is an emergency procedure which is to be performed in an attempt to return life to an individual who is experiencing a cardiac arrest which is indicated in those people who are insensitive without any breath or only getting gasps, this CPR can be administered or performed both inside or outside of any medical center. The CPR basically involves the compressing of the chest at a rate of a minimum 100 per minute in an attempt to create and artificial movement by manually pumping the blood through the patient’s heart, the savior may provide the affected person with some breaths which can be done either by exhaling in the mouth or with the help of any device which pushes the air into the lungs. This process is providing respiration is also known as artificial respiration. By doing this CPR would not be entirely responsible to resume the heart, but its main point is to reinstate a limited flow of blood to the vital organs such as the brain and the heart.
There are a lot of tools and equipment which are used while giving CPR to the affected person, one of them is the CPR Face Shield which is also called as the pocket mask or pocket face mask or the CPR Mask. This CPR Face Shield is a small device which can be carried with a person in their pocket and so the name is also pocket mask. The CPR Face Shield is used in administering air to the affected person when the emergency responder [the professional medical help and is a person who has completed a proper course, done training and also obtained certification in giving pre hospital care to people in such medical emergencies] exhales through the one way filter valve [is a device which normally allows fluids like liquids or gases to pass through it, but only in one direction].
The modern advanced CPR Face Shield has a one way valve which is built in or is attachable; it also has a filter which is disposable to guard the responder from the affected person’s infectious substances such as the blood or vomits. Other CPR Face Shield also has an oxygen intake tube which is also built in, which usually allows up to 50 to 60 percent of oxygen administration which without being hooked up to an exterior line, the exhaled air from the provider will still be able to provide the patient with sufficient oxygen to be alive. This CPR Face Shield may not be as efficient as the other valve masks which are generally used in the hospitals, but definitely this CPR Face Shield does have its own benefits when only one savior is available. As the name suggests this CPR Face Shield gets its advantages from a somewhat easy portability when compared with the other valve masks which in contrast need at least 2 hands to use them. This CPR Face Shield is generally made of polycarbonate and cellulose acetate.
